The high-stakes gambling anime, Kakegurui Twin, left the viewers enthralled with its thrilling blend of psychological warfare and outrageous wagers at Hyakkaou Private Academy.
The prequel series to Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler, explored Mary Saotome’s early days at the academy, revealing a more vulnerable and strategic student before her transformation into a full-fledged gambling addict. But will the thrill continue with a season 2?
There seem to be a lot of questions surrounding the return of Kakegurui Twin Season 2 and we have all the answers here.
There is no official confirmation from Netflix or animation studio MAPPA regarding a second season of Kakegurui Twin. But just because we don’t have any updates at the moment doesn’t mean that things won’t look up for the show in the future.
Anime shows, especially ones that are inspired by manga, take a lot of time to produce and animate. Given the perfect nature of the final release, it isn’t surprising that anime studios take years before they are ready to release a new season of an already popular show.
As for Kakegurui Twin, the first season premiered in August 2022, so it has been around 1.5 years since we watched the finale episode of the first season. Given that the anime studio or Netflix hasn’t shared updates about an official cancellation, we can remain hopeful that they are likely working on it in hindsight.
Whether or not we receive further updates about the renewal or release remains a mystery at this point. We will keep you posted as we receive further updates.
The cliffhanger ending of season 1 leaves plenty of room for further exploration. Mary, having outsmarted her opponents and secured a measure of respect, prepares for her next challenge.
We could see her confrontations with established powerhouses like Kirari Momobami, the Student Council President, or delve deeper into the enigmatic gambling societies vying for influence.
The remaining chapters of the Kakegurui Twin manga offer a treasure trove of potential storylines, including high-octane gambling matches, Mary’s evolving relationships with classmates like Tsuzura Hanatemari and Yumeko Jabami (who makes a brief appearance in season 1), and the ever-present struggle for social status at Hyakkaou Academy.
In short, things are expected going to heat up in the second season and it would be interesting to see how things pan out for the individual characters in the sequel. Keep in mind that anime is often quite unpredictable with their storylines, so the same could be the case with this one as well.
Until we get an official confirmation about the return of Kakegurui Twin Season 2, it is pretty impossible to guess who will return. That said, we can remain hopeful that the showrunners won’t switch up the cast from the first season.
