Samsung’s latest smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, are rumored to introduce advanced AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities.

A report reveals that a patent application from a major South Korean tech company has appeared online, hinting at a new feature. Even though a similar feature is already available in the GalaxyAI suite, the patent application hints at new features in creating summaries. These new features might take into account the preferences of users.

The patent, discovered on the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) website, outlines the development of an AI technology dedicated to generating document summaries utilizing Samsung’s proprietary large language model, Gauss, which forms the foundation of Galaxy AI.

According to insights from South Korean outlet Chosun Biz, this innovative technology promises to revolutionize document summarization. Unlike existing capabilities within Galaxy AI, which lack customization options, the new feature allows users to tailor summaries to their preferences. Users can prompt the AI to produce summaries in various styles, ranging from short to long, and neutral to negative.

In an example outlined in the patent, the AI was tasked with summarizing an article about the “South Korea – US summit agenda.” This produced neutral keywords like “nuclear weapons” “North Korea” “South Korea” and “missiles” – US military exercises.’

However, when instructed to summarize in a negative tone,” it replied with something like – Should disparities in opinions between South Korea and the United States surface regarding the resolution for North Korea, it might negatively impact the upcoming South Korea – US summit.

Moreover, the AI technology is designed to personalize summaries based on users’ historical data, including knowledge levels, preferences, and political inclinations, derived from their interactions with Galaxy devices.

Industry insiders speculate that Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event in July may unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6, potentially integrating these new and advanced AI features.

There are also rumors of extending these enhancements to the Galaxy S series. However, it’s important to note that the patent application signifies a conceptual stage, leaving uncertainty regarding its implementation timeframe.

Regarding other details we have gathered about these two upcoming phones, there have been numerous reports indicating that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a different aspect ratio compared to its predecessor. Specifically, we anticipate the cover screen of the former to be wider and resembling the design of the OnePlus Open.
