New PS5 Update Enhances Controller Audio and Power Indicator Brightness Control

Sony has rolled out a significant system software update for the PlayStation 5, introducing several improvements to enhance user experience and gaming performance.

The update, labeled as version 9.00, brings notable enhancements to the DualSense controller’s audio capabilities and introduces the ability to adjust the brightness of the PS5’s power indicator.

One of the key improvements included in the update is the enhancement of audio quality on the DualSense controller. Sony has increased the volume of the controller’s speakers, providing users with clearer voice chat audio and in-game sounds.

Additionally, the update incorporates a new AI machine-learning model designed to improve microphone input by reducing background noise such as game audio and button presses, resulting in enhanced voice chat clarity.

Another significant addition to the update is the option to adjust the brightness of the PS5’s power indicator. The PS5 features twin vertical light indicators on its front face, which illuminate to indicate the console’s status, such as powering on/off, experiencing overheating, or in rest mode.

With the 9.00 update, users now have the ability to adjust the brightness of these indicators, offering greater control over the console’s visual feedback. To access this feature, users can navigate to the Settings section, select “System” followed by the “Beep and Light” option, and then “Brightness.”

In addition to these enhancements, the update introduces new features for Share Screen and Parties functionality. Users participating in shared gameplay sessions can now utilize pointers and emoji reactions to interact with the host’s gameplay. To enable these features, Viewer Interactions must be enabled in the Share Screen settings.

Furthermore, the update brings support for Unicode 15.1 emojis and includes various improvements to the system software stability and performance.

Additionally, the update includes firmware updates for the DualSense Edge and DualSense controllers, PS VR2 Sense controllers, Access controller, and PlayStation VR2 headset.

PlayStation users can expect to receive notifications prompting them to install the system software update when turning on their consoles, as the update is now rolling out. These improvements and features are aimed at enhancing the overall gaming experience for PlayStation 5 users.

Overall, the latest system software update for the PlayStation 5 represents a significant step forward in enhancing the gaming experience for users. With improvements to audio features, including louder speakers and enhanced microphone input on the DualSense controllers, players can enjoy clearer in-game sounds and seamless voice chat sessions.
