New Feature Allows Users to Sing or Hum to Search Songs on YouTube Music

YouTube Music, a go-to music streaming app for millions of users, is reportedly introducing a new feature that will revolutionize how users search for songs. The new functionality enables users to sing or hum a tune to find the song they are looking for. This feature is introduced to make the search process more accessible and intuitive for users.

Initially, the feature was introduced in YouTube’s Android app in October 2023, but it is now being integrated into YouTube Music, according to reports. Users have started noticing a “Song search” button within the app, simplifying the process of finding songs through vocalization.

Reports from 9to5Google suggest that the Song search feature, originally available on YouTube’s Android app is now being rolled out to YouTube Music. The same is confirmed by many Reddit users who have spotted the feature on iOS, indicating a simultaneous release for both iOS and Android platforms.

However, not all users have received the update yet, suggesting a gradual rollout or batch distribution strategy. The feature is expected to become accessible to users worldwide in the next few days.

The functionality of the feature is simple. Users on the YouTube app can access it by tapping the microphone icon in the search bar, which leads to a screen offering Song and Voice tabs.

The Song tab enables users to sing, play, or hum a song, allowing an AI algorithm to match it with the original track. This feature mirrors capabilities already present in Google Search, Google Assistant, and the Now Playing feature on Pixel phones.

YouTube’s expansion of its paid subscription service, YouTube Premium, further highlights the platform’s commitment to enhancing user experience.

Last week, the subscription service was introduced in ten additional countries, including Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe, Azerbaijan, and Libya among others. This expansion brings the total number of countries where YouTube Premium is available to 100, with all newly added countries also offering the more affordable Student Plan option.

The launch of the new song search feature on YouTube Music makes music discovery for users worldwide quick and easy. By allowing individuals to simply sing or hum a tune to find their desired songs, YouTube is making music exploration more intuitive and convenient.

As this feature continues to roll out to users in different regions and countries, it promises to enhance the overall user experience on YouTube Music.
