Jackie Gleason was born on 26th February 1916, in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Herbert Walton Gleason and Mae Agnes. Raised in an Irish-American neighborhood, Gleason’s early years were filled with challenges. His father abandoned the family when Gleason was just nine years old, leaving him and his mother to fend for themselves.
Even as a child, Gleason loved to entertain people. He would make his neighbors and classmates laugh with jokes. Sadly, when Gleason was 19, his mother passed away. Jackie Gleason’s personal life was just as interesting as his career. He was married three times. His first marriage was to Genevieve Halford in 1936. However, their marriage didn’t last long as the couple separated in 1941. His second marriage to Beverly McKittrick also ended in divorce. He married for the third time which lasted until death. His third wife is Marilyn Taylor, a former dancer.
As he grew older, Gleason’s health began to decline due to his lifestyle. He suffered from diabetes and heart problems, which worsened in the 1980s. He passed away on 24th June 1987, at the age of 71 due to colon cancer.

His wealth came from his successful television shows, films, and music career, as well as from royalties from reruns of The Honeymooners.
