There are historical drama series and then there are the amazing biographical dramas that depict a virtual rendition of a famous person’s life. Genius is one of those. The series was created and developed by Noah Pink and Kenneth Biller and premiered on National Geographic for the audience to watch internationally.
As for the premise of the series, it follows the life of the brilliant scientist, Albert Einstein. It walks you through his life as a child, his time working as a clerk, and his later years where he gifted the world with his share of knowledge with the Theory of Relativity.
The entire series is transcribed and inspired by the 2007 biographical novel, Einstein: His Life and Universe. If you aren’t a book person and you’d rather watch the show than read the book, we’d recommend this series without any doubt.
The show has three seasons in total, the last of which was released in 2021. Each season follows the life of a different Genius, taking you along their lives. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season as well. The fourth season of the show is going to be released on Disney+ and will feature the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Although it’s hard to explain an actual premise of this series, mainly because each season of the show follows the life of individual geniuses and isn’t focused around a fictional plot, as many would otherwise think of it.
Take the first season for example. It follows the life of Albert Einstein from the early days to his work as a clerk and then to his findings as a physicist, especially concerning the Theory of Relativity and everything that followed.
The second season of Genius followed the life of the famous painter, Pablo Picasso. Later when the show was renewed for a third season, it featured the life of Aretha Franklin. The show has been renewed for another season; however, there is no news when Season 4 will come out. The fourth season is focused on the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
Since all the three seasons are based on three different biographies, the primary characters keep on changing. However, there are a few actors who are fixed throughout the three seasons. Let us focus on them:
If you are one of those people that likes watching biographical shows, Genius is one of those shows that you won’t regret watching. The first two seasons of the show explored the basic introduction to the lives of Fitzgerald, Hemingway, and Wolfe.
However, the third season of the show, as reports suggest ventured into Aretha Franklin’s life, which is a musical genius and has made an impressive impact on the lives of people globally. The fact that the third season focused on her and her career growth was a pretty bold move on the creator’s part for the show.
With how unique the storyline and true to the real life of Aretha Franklin everything was, it isn’t surprising that the show has made lasting impacts on the lives of people. The best thing about Genius is that it navigates through and narrates the lives of genius people and the behind-the-scenes situation that you probably wouldn’t know otherwise.
