Nick Sax, the jaded ex-cop, and Happy, the foul-mouthed blue unicorn, may never grace our screens again. Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase, Syfy decided to cancel “Happy!” after its second season in 2019.
Despite the official confirmation of the show’s cancellation, the fans have not stopped yearning for more. Will this change the minds of the showrunners leading to a potential return of the show in the future? Well, we’d just have to wait and watch.

Some of the dedicated fans of the show were quite disheartened but Syfy confirmed that the reason behind the cancellation was the lack of views.
Indeed, the show was immensely loved by some of the fans but it still couldn’t be cut for the show to be renewed in the future. Albeit the bitter truth, the fans seem to have accepted and moved on from the fact that they will never be able to rewatch their favorite show ever again.
A cliffhanger ending in Season 2 left several loose threads. Hailey, Nick’s daughter, was last seen with the villainous Smoothie, hinting at a potential rescue mission. Nick himself was grappling with the consequences of his violent actions.
Season 3 could have explored the psychological toll of his experiences while showcasing the unbreakable bond between a father and his imaginary friend (especially a homicidal, glitter-spewing unicorn).
Perhaps Hailey unlocks hidden abilities inherited from her mother, a powerful telekinetic. Maybe Smoothie’s dark past is revealed, adding a layer of complexity to the deranged Santa impersonator. New allies and enemies could emerge, forcing Nick and Happy to confront their inner demons while navigating the ever-corrupt underbelly of the city.
With how amazing the storyline of the first two seasons was, a third season could have brought together a lot of the loopholes in the plot in the first two seasons. We could have gotten answers to the questions that were left unanswered in the first two seasons. However, with the cancellation, it looks like all we will get right now is disappointment.
