Grotesquerie was created by Murphy in collaboration with Joe Baken and Jon Robin Baitz. The three also serve as executive producers, alongside Max Winkler, Alexis Martin Woodall, Courtney B. Vance, Nissa Diederich, Niecy Nash-Betts, Peter Liguori, Scott Robertson, and Eric Kovtun.
Murphy is also one of the directors for the series along with Elegance Bratton, Winkler, and Woodall. The show is produced by 20th Television.
