Fans of the whip-smart Australian comedy-drama “Frayed” were left with a cliffhanger ending in season two, and many eagerly awaited news of a third season. However, creator and star Sarah Kendall confirmed in 2023 that the show wouldn’t be returning.
Despite the confirmation that the show has come to an end after its two successful seasons, it hasn’t prevented the audience from being hopeful that things would change out of the blue and that the show will be renewed in the future.

We could have seen Dan (Matt Passmore) surprisingly surviving the incident, albeit with a scar (both physical and emotional). Sammy, however, might not have been as fortunate.
Facing murder charges, she could have ended up serving time. Season 3 could have picked up with Sammy’s release from prison, with her ever-reliable brother Jim (Ben Mingay) by her side. Navigating life post-incarceration, Sammy might have grappled with societal judgment, a strained relationship with her children, and the lingering ghosts of the past.
Would she have reunited with Dan? Would she have found a way to reconnect with her family and rebuild her life in Newcastle? These are questions that will forever remain unanswered. The cancellation of the show has indeed left the fans wondering about how things could have progressed with the show but it looks like we will never get an answer to those.
In the meantime, all you can do is go back and rewatch the first two seasons and try to make do with what’s available.
