Eric Season 2 – When Is The Show Returning?

Set in 1980s New York, Eric follows the tale of a puppeteer named Vincent Anderson. When his son Edgar disappears, Vincent becomes more distant from others and starts to lose touch with reality. He makes a puppet based on Edgar’s drawings and calls it Eric, hoping it will help him find his son.

When is Eric Season 2 releasing?

It is truly disappointing for fans, but there won’t be any more new seasons. That’s Eric was designed to be a short series from the start.

Netflix officially announced Eric as a limited series, meaning it’s unlikely to have a second season. While Netflix has made some limited series into longer shows over time, Eric probably won’t follow that path. 

This show is a psychological thriller set in the 1980s, telling the story of a father searching for his missing son. Since the story concludes in the final episode of season 1, there’s no chance left for it to continue.

Plus, with the show’s title being “Eric,” the makers cannot even change into a different story each season. So, it’s likely that Eric will end after just one season.

What can we expect in Eric Season 2?

Some people believe that Eric is based on a true story, but it’s not. However, it does draw inspiration from real-life cases and events. 

Creator Abi Morgan said that the series isn’t based on a specific incident, instead, it reflects many stories of missing children she heard about while growing up in the UK. She wanted to capture the tragedy and fear of children disappearing and create a story that deeply resonates with the audience.

In Eric, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Vincent Anderson, a man with drinking problems. He works on a kids’ TV show in New York during the 1980s. His life gets messed up when his son Edgar disappears. The intense series ends with Vincent making a heartfelt plea on TV, which helps him reunite with his son in the end.

The final scenes show Vincent’s journey inside himself as much as his search for his son. Since the story is already over, the showrunners are not interested in dragging the story any further.
