Recent reports suggest that Apple’s launch of a foldable iPhone may face delays, with the tech giant reportedly pushing back the release to the first quarter of 2027.
The Cupertino-based tech company has been discreet about its venture into foldable devices, but ongoing patent filings hint at Apple’s exploration of foldable iPad, iPhone, and a MacBook with a large display.
Initially rumoured to debut in 2026, the foldable iPhone’s launch timeline has now reportedly shifted, with Korean outlet AlphaBiz suggesting a launch in early 2027. The report also suggests that the delay is due to factors related to the supply and demand chain.

The postponement from the previously anticipated fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027 signifies a delay in Apple’s product release strategy.
However, despite the delay in the launch timeline, AlphaBiz mentions that the selection of suppliers for crucial components like foldable displays remains on track.
Earlier announcements had fuelled anticipation, with reports suggesting Apple’s focus on technological advancements to outperform competitors in the foldable device arena.
An unnamed senior Apple official had previously outlined plans for a lighter and thinner foldable iPhone, focusing efforts to minimize crease marks on the folding screen. Apple’s patent applications further underline the company’s commitment to refining the foldable display technology.
Apple’s entry in the foldable device space comes amid stiff competition from industry rivals like Google and Samsung, both of which have made significant strides in the foldable phone market.
