Good news for Apple users! New software updates have been released by Apple for the iPhones, laptops, iPods, tvOS, smartwatch, and HomePods. While the older models have got iOS 12.4.9 update, iPhones have got iOS 14.2 update. About Apple watches, they have got watchOS 7.1 update, There is also HomePod and tvOS software version 14.2 update along with macOS Catalina 10.15.7 update. The software updates come with bug fixes and additional improvements.
ECG feature is added along with other functions in the watchOS 7.1 update. Improved home theatre support with numerous bug fixes has been brought in the HomePod update. The updates on iOS and iPadOS will be available for iPhone 6s and other phones launched after that. It will also be available for iPod touch 7th generation, iPad Air 2 and future models, and iPad mini 4 and later models. The iOS 14.2 update comes with 100+ new emojis, 8 brand new wallpapers for both lighter and darker versions.
It also features notifications for the headphone audio level, which will show alerts while the volume reaches the ear-affecting level. It also comes with additional AirPlay controls. The HomePod and HomePod mini will have intercom support. The HomePod can be connected to Apple TV 4K by the users to fetch stereo, Dolby Atmos audio & surround sound.
Security updates have been made for iOS 12.4.9 to quite older Apple iPhone models. This includes Apple’s iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPad mini 2 and 3, iPad Air, and iPod touch (6th gen).
With the new update, the magnifier of phones including iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th gen), and iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd gen) will be able to detect people nearby. The LiDAR sensor will be able to show the distance of people. The support for iPhone 12’s leather sleeve with MagSafe also comes under the new update.
The new update brings in the Auto FPS feature and Scene Detection in the Camera app feature for improved video and photo quality in iPadOS 14.2. This also includes numerous bug fixes along with a Camera viewfinder bug. Other updates include Lock Screen keyboard missing touches, issues with Photos widget, and more.
In Apple Watch Series 4 and later versions, watchOS 7.1 update has been added to support for ECG. This has been added in the regions of the Republic of Korea and Russia. These places additionally get support for irregular heart rhythm notifications.
