Ian Stapleton aka Ssundee was born in Michigan on 2nd December 1987 and has both Irish and African heritage. Even though he is a famous personality, details about his parents and early life are not widely known.
Some online sources claim that he spent his childhood, living in various places, including Louisiana, and Virginia. At 16, he relocated to South Carolina, where he spent 11 years.

Ssundee started his YouTube channel on 27th November 2009 and uploaded his first Minecraft video on 14th September 2010. The same year, he introduced his alter-ego, Derp Ssundee in a video about the Corruption Dimension Mod for Minecraft.
